Fudge Crackle Kiss Cookies

1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 large eggs
1 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
24-30 Hershey kisses

Combine melted butter and cocoa powder. Stir in sugar, vanilla and eggs. Add flour mixed with baking powder and salt. Stir well, then chill for at least 2-3 hours or overnight. (The thin batter makes them nice and fudgy; you can add more flour and chill for less time but they'll be more cake-like.)

Scoop into balls and roll in sugar before placing on cookie sheet. Bake at 300 degrees for 18 minutes. Immediately top with an unwrapped Hershey kiss.

Note: You can turn these into ordinary drop cookies. Add 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips to the batter, skip rolling in sugar, and omit adding the Hershey kiss. Bake at 350 degrees for 11 minutes.
