A New Holiday Cookie
I tried this new recipe for Valentine's Day this year, but it would work for any holiday depending upon which sprinkles you used. I liked both sprinkles and sugar, although the round sprinkles worked better than the rectangular ones. This simple sugar cookie reminds me of both Snickerdoodles and Bonbon Cookies. The recipe came from here. It's not quite the same as our Frosted Cut-Out Sugar Cookies, but it's still pretty good.
Sprinkle Sugar Cookies
1 cup margarine, softened
3 ounces cream cheese
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
3 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Cream together margarine, cream cheese and sugar. Beat in egg and extracts. Stir in dry ingredients. Chill for an hour.
Preheat oven to 350. Scoop dough into balls, then roll in sprinkles or colored sugar. Bake for 10 minutes.
