Cooking with the Grandchildren

I like cooking and baking, and so do these cute kids. We had fun with many cooking projects during my stay. They helped with dinner, but then we did a lot of baking as well.

The two oldest baked sugar cookies, and everyone decorated them - and then ate them!

Adeline woke up early to help make Chunky Monkey Pancakes for breakfast one morning.

Clara saved one of the eclairs she made for Sunday dinner so that I could sample her baking. Then a few days later we worked together to bake a Boston Cream Pie to use up the extra cream filling and chocolate glaze.

Evelyn made brownies for dinner one night, using white chocolate chips instead of regular. I love that she's already adapting recipes to make them her own.

We made Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies, which is basically just adding some cocoa powder (about 1/4 - 1/3 cup per batch) to regular chocolate chip cookies.

Adeline has a cookbook of her own. Her choice for this week's project was Hedgehog Crackers, made by spreading peanut butter on a cracker and topping with sliced almonds or peanuts for the "spikes" and a raisin for the nose and candy eyeballs for eyes.
