Ginger Root

I wouldn't have expected ginger root to be between the Brussels Sprouts and Beets, but it was, so we picked some up. Now we need to use it!

First up was Mushroom Ginger Soup. This was basically a cream of mushroom soup, but the added ginger was a nice touch.

Then we tried Ginger Fried Rice. Basically, sauté julienned ginger and minced garlic in sesame oil. If desired, add some diced vegetables and/or cooked meat. Then stir in cold, cooked rice, and a dried red pepper, if desired. Finally, scramble a couple of eggs in the center of the pan, drizzle with soy sauce and/or fish sauce, stir and sprinkle with sliced green onions and/or sesame seeds when serving. Of course, there are many different ways to make Fried Rice, so we'll probably have this again while we still have ginger root.
