Dutch Oven French Bread
I was going to say it doesn't get much easier than this, but actually it was a bit of a production. You do just open a tube of refrigerated French bread dough, but before that you have to set up the Dutch oven table, get the charcoal briquettes ready, and grease the heavy Dutch oven. Then, because for some reason after 45 minutes it still wasn't done, you have to heat the oven in order to finish the baking. However, the end result was delicious!
If we do this on a future camping trip, know that we'll need more than 4 briquettes on the bottom and 15 on the top. Then maybe it won't take an hour to cook! Or, just bake it in the oven on a cookie sheet as the package directs - 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Don't forget to make the three slashes on top before baking, but don't expect them to still be visible when done.
