Ranch Turkey
Even months later, Wayne remembers the lesson he learned from trying this new recipe – buying a turkey leg at the fair is not worth the money. Apparently, this was the first turkey leg he ever ate, and he didn’t realize it took a lot of effort to get the meat off the many tiny bones. Why would anyone pay $10 or more for that privilege? He’ll let me do the work and eat his turkey leg meat in soups and casseroles!
I ate the wing for my dinner.
We probably won’t have this recipe (from the roasts list) again, but it was super easy and it turned out deliciously. You might want to give it a try some time.
Just combine two cubes of butter with two packets of ranch seasoning mix and rub all over the turkey, including under the skin as much as possible. Place in a roasting pan, cover with foil and bake at 325 degrees until done – about 20 minutes per pound, and removing the foil for the last half hour. Let stand 20 minutes before carving and serving.
