Cody's Family's Salad

Cranberry Salad (Thanksgiving)

1 pkg. cherry Jell-O
1 c. sugar
1 c. boiling water
2 c. cranberries
4 apples, cored
1 large orange (without seeds)--leave the peel on

Put the fruit in a food processor until it is chopped up REALLY well (you don't want to eat even small chunks of cranberry or orange peel). Dissolve Jello-O in water. Add sugar. Add fruit when cool. Let set in fridge for several hours before serving.

I need to double check with Cody, but after finally trying her family's recipe myself, we decided it was more of a condiment than a salad. We were expecting a sweet jello salad, or maybe our cranberries and apples were extra tart. Anyway, we layered and/or mixed some of the leftovers with cream cheese and, along with some crackers, it made a great holiday appetizer.

Edited to add a picture of Cody's salad on her family's Thanksgiving table in 2020! Do you see it?
