Guava

While shopping for some fresh fruit this week, we noticed some guava, and decided that it was about time we bought the actual fruit, rather than just nectar.

Apparently, the entire fruit is edible, skin and seeds and all. However, the seeds were quite crunchy, and we didn't like them, so scooped them out. These guava were pretty tart and we didn't care for them plain, although we did use a couple in a fruit salad.

The rest of them, though, made a very delicious smoothie. In the future, we'll probably stick with the cans of guava nectar.

Tropical Smoothie

Combine 1 cup milk, 1 cup vanilla yogurt, a frozen banana, a cup or so of cubed papaya and 1/2 cup guava in a blender. Mix until smooth. Serves 2.
