Bang Bang Shrimp

We quite enjoyed our appetizer at Bonefish Grill the other day, so we decided to try it at home someday. I found a copycat recipe here. We'll see if we can duplicate it ourselves!

Bang Bang Shrimp

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup Thai sweet chili sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon Siracha sauce
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 3/4 cup cornstarch
  • vegetable oil for frying
Combine the mayonnaise, chili sauce and Siracha. Set aside.

Soak the shrimp in the buttermilk for a few minutes, then drain and coat with the cornstarch.

Heat oil to 2-3" in a saucepan until it reaches 375 degrees. Fry the shrimp, in batches if necessary, until golden brown.

Coat with sauce and serve immediately. Garnish with sliced green onions if desired.

We made half the recipe, used our "substitute" buttermilk (add vinegar to milk and let set), and used about 1" of oil instead of 2-3". Wayne actually liked our version better!
