Onion Dip

Here's another "really don't need a recipe" recipe. However, even though it doesn't use the Dutch oven, it was included in the Dutch Oven Cookbook so we're documenting it here. Combine a package of dry onion soup mix with a container of whipped cream cheese.

The recipe stated "large container" and we selected the 8-ounce one. This recipe turned out to be quite salty. Maybe there's a larger container available. We also prefer the sour cream-based onion dip - combine the package of dry onion soup mix with a 16-ounce container of sour cream. Stick to that version! However, there's the option to use French onion soup mix (instead of plain onion soup mix) so we will be having this recipe once again.

Serve with crackers, dip chips or celery sticks (or even other vegetables).

Version Two: Use French Onion dry soup mix instead of regular onion soup mix. There really isn't much difference in taste between the two versions.
