A Plethora of Pies

A decade ago I did a Thanksgiving countdown listing ten of our favorite (or not so favorite) pies, along with the family stories behind them. This year I did something similar, but on FaceBook, not on the blog. However, I felt it would be nice to have all the Thanksgiving pie possibilities listed in one post, so here you go!

Frosty Pumpkin Pie – Our all-time favorite Thanksgiving pie, basically mix together sweetened and spiced pumpkin with vanilla ice cream and plop into a graham cracker crust.

Mom’s Pumpkin Sundae Pie – Very similar to the above, but with the addition of a caramel sauce.

Pumpkin Pie – The traditional version, and a must for the Thanksgiving feast.

Candy Bar Pie – Our family’s all-time favorite year-round pie – combine chocolate, marshmallows and whipping cream in a walnut crust. This is particularly great because it can be made ahead of time and kept in the freezer.

Peanut Butter Pie – Another pie that can be made ahead and stored in the freezer.

Caramel Ice Cream Pie – Have you figured out that we really like ice cream pies?

We also like fruit pies. Here are some of our favorites:

Very Cherry Pie

Old-Fashioned Apple Pie

French Crunch Peach Pie

Wintertime Peach Pie

Grandmother’s Peach Pie

Berry Cream Pie

Strawberry Fluff Pie

Easy Cherry Cheesecake

Key Lime Pie

While we love these last few pies, and would eat them year-round, they really are more suitable for summer. Here are some more appropriate options for autumn and Thanksgiving.

Sweet Potato Pie

Chocolate Pecan Pie

Pecan Angel Pie

Coconut Angel Pie

Chocolate Cheesecake Pie

Finally, there are a few that we will most likely never have again, and if you want to know why, follow the link and read the story.

Mock Apple Pie

Mincemeat Pie

Concord Grape Pie
